Senior Sports Round-Up 28.03.25

This week’s sports round-up includes highlights from an exciting week of sport, with some incredible performances from our teams and individuals.

The U15 girls’ hockey team delivered an impressive performance to claim victory in the U15 County Cup Final, beating a determined Penryn College side. Head of Hockey, Miss Cobner, has high hopes for this talented group, who are definitely ones to watch as they move up to the U16s next year.

The U12 girls had an exciting day at the regional finals at Clifton College, where they achieved some fantastic results, including a win over Clayesmore, draws with Clifton College and Maynard, and a hard-fought match against Godolphin. A last-minute goal by Godolphin levelled the score at 3-3, preventing the team from advancing to the playoffs. Coaches Mr Opie and Mrs Wyatt were incredibly proud of the girls and are confident that this performance will give them a huge confidence boost going forward. Congratulations to all players and coaches!

The U18 and U14 rugby teams had a fantastic experience at the Rosslyn Park 7s, which was broadcast live on RE1. The coaching staff, Mr Whitmore, Mr Lea, and Mr Excell, deserve a huge thank you for their support throughout. The U14 team is already eager to return next year! A standout moment of the day came in the match against Harrow, with a stunning team try finished by Jack J, involving every player in a well-executed move against strong opposition.

The U13 rugby 7s team showed their skill at the county tournament at Penair School. They scored an impressive 28 tries across five matches, securing victories over Falmouth, Redruth, Pool, and St Ives. Unfortunately, their journey ended in a tight semi-final loss to Richard Lander, 5-4. The boys’ teamwork and positivity were outstanding, and the coaching staff can’t wait to see what they can achieve next season. Well done to all involved!

A huge congratulations to Charlie, who played for the Exeter Chiefs Academy against Bristol Bears on Sunday. The team had a great game, securing a resounding victory. Well done, Charlie!

Lastly, well done to Mia who attended the South West Cheerleading Championships, and placed 1st in both junior and youth level teams, 3rd with her stunt group and 5th in her solo. Congratulations, Mia!

Great work to all athletes and coaches!
