On Thursday, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our third cohort of Sixth Form students to have successfully completed the Truro School Sixth Form Diploma. In recent weeks, our Upper Sixth students have been ticking off many key milestones in their Sixth Form journey, their focus now shifting towards final preparations before exams.
The Sixth Form Diploma is designed to encourage students to make the most of the opportunities available to them outside their A-level studies. Every year, we challenge the students to develop not only academically but also personally with enriching experiences and opportunities that help build a strong university application, secure apprenticeships, explore exciting gap years, or step confidently into the world of work.
Encouraging a “have-a-go” attitude now means that they will continue to embrace opportunities throughout their lives, leading to a more fulfilled and exciting future beyond Truro School. We encourage our Sixth Formers to step outside their comfort zone, whether by taking on leadership roles, excelling in music, sport, or drama, or stretching themselves academically beyond their A-level syllabus.
Life as a Sixth Former is incredibly busy, and the Sixth Form Diploma creates a structure that helps track and document each student’s journey. Students are awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze based on the credits they accumulate from their various activities.
Elowyn, Arthur, and Katie, reflected on their Sixth Form journeys during the assembly before announcing the students to have successfully achieved Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.
In addition, seven outstanding students were given special recognition for their outstanding engagement with the Sixth Form Diploma:
