Our Lower and Upper Sixth students came together to showcase their mathematical prowess in a thrilling super-curricular maths challenge, part of the Sixth Form Maths Enrichment Programme. This unique event was designed to push boundaries, encouraging students to apply their mathematical knowledge and skills beyond the standard curriculum in a fun and festive way.
Nine teams, drawn from Sixth Form Maths and Further Maths courses, collaborated to tackle a series of challenging problems. Congratulations to the Upper Sixth Girls’ team comprising Emily, Camilla, Elowyn, and Angie who emerged as champions with their outstanding teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
Reflecting on the event, Mrs Robins said, “This challenge highlighted exceptional collaboration across the Sixth Form. Without calculators, success depended on sharp mathematical reasoning, effective communication, and teamwork. Well done to everyone involved, you’ve made the Truro School Maths Department proud!”
This competition is part of the specialised Sixth Form Maths Enrichment Programme, which aims to nurture mathematical talent and foster a love for advanced problem-solving. It also supports the Elite Maths Performers Group, identifying and guiding exceptionally gifted students towards competitive university admissions and prestigious careers. The programme equips students with the critical thinking skills, deep understanding of advanced concepts, and resilience required for success at top-tier institutions and beyond.
