Sports Round Up 07.03.25

Well done to all our sports teams on some commendable results and fantastic teamwork this week.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our hockey teams, with notable achievements across various age groups. The U13 boys faced tough competition against Mount Kelly, whilst the U15 girls cup team won through to the county final with some impressive performances.

On Tuesday, the U13 boys competed at the regional finals held at Millfield. They played against some fantastic teams and despite the tough opposition, scored some remarkable goals against formidable opponents. They really developed as a team throughout the day.

In netball, a big well done to our 1st, 2nd and 4th Year netball teams who won their friendly fixture against Mounts Bay. Mrs Newton, Mrs Morgan commented on how lovely it was to accompany the pupils on this fixture. Players of the match were : Lexi ( 1st Year) Delilah ( 2nd Year), Isobel ( 4th Year), Winnie, Lara,  Wendy and Amelia.

A triangular netball fixture hosted at Truro School saw players from 1st Year to Sixth Form showcasing their skills under the sunshine. Kudos to senior netball captain Elowyn, VC Nia, and Upper Sixth student Amelie for representing Truro School in their final netball fixture.

Our badminton teams from KS4 represented Cornwall in the SW regional finals of the National Schools Badminton Championships at the University of Bath. Both boys and girls teams played strongly against very tough competition. Results were tight with the boys narrowly missing out on the finals. Huge congratulations to the girls who became the regional runners up! Well done to everyone for demonstrating great team spirit and resilience.

Congratulations to Tom, Millie, Elsa and Georgia. Tom was selected to tour Sri Lanka and UAE with the Cornwall Cricket U15 squad. Tom played five games, scoring 99 runs, including a 50, and took four wickets in one match. Millie has been called to represent Cornwall U18s at the end of March. She was runner in the U18 G4 and won the U16s. Despite being injured and missing out on the final race of the season, Aria finished 2nd in the Westward Cross Country league overall. In swimming, Elsa achieved a PB, medal placement, regional qualifying time in the 100m fly at the Team Bath AS and Millfield L3 Regional Qualifier. Georgia attended the national FYD dance competition in Berkhamsted and competed in lyrical, contemporary and jazz dance categories and achieved fantastic 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, qualifying for the nationals later this year. Well done Millie, Tom, Elsa and Aria!

Last Saturday, a beautiful morning at the Polwhele House School cross country event allowed runners from across the county to compete. Truro School sent two teams in the U13 age group. The Truro School girls team won their team race, with Sophia chasing down the pack early on to come first in her race and Rosie coming second in hers. The boys also put up a commendable effort, finishing second in the team event. Thank you to Polwhele for hosting such a lovely event. Brilliant running from all involved.
