Sports Round Up

It has been an exceptional start to the year for our sports people.

The U15 netball team progressed to the SnS Bowl Semi Final after a nail-biting quarter-final against Backwell School. Mrs Tresidder and Miss Bickley commented, ‘How amazingly proud we are of the team, with every player contributing to the success on the court. It has been a real privilege watching the team grow since coaching with them as 1st Years and the win today was fully deserved.’ We look forward to hearing how the team gets on in their semi-final match soon!

A huge ‘good luck’ to our U16 rugby team who are playing their county finals today. We wish them all the best of luck!

In football, our U14 girls had an incredible cup run, coming to a dramatic end following a narrow loss to Torquay Academy 5-4 – conceding with the last kick of the game. Truro’s effort, attitude, and skill were incredible to witness and they bowed out of the competition with the honour of making the last 16 of the national cup and making the furthest progress of any Truro School girls’ football team in history. Thank you, girls, you were fantastic from L to R Back Row: Millie N; Evelyn J; Poppy S; Susanna S; Ayesha P; Poppy M; Phoebe M; Lucy D; Audrey A; Sanna B; Matilda M; Front Row: Lilly L; Fenella E; Alice P

Well done also to the U14 netball team who competed against Torquay Academy in their SnS Bowl fixture. The team worked fantastically well to secure a strong win, meaning they progressed to the next round of the national competition. Well done to the team and we look forward to hearing how they get on!

In cricket, the 1st Year boys took part in the U12 indoor cricket tournament. Both teams played Camborne in their first match. They both played each other in the second match, ending in an exciting draw on the last ball. Well done!

A big thank you to all of our pupils who competed in the county cross-country championships on Saturday, which were held at Truro School. There were some fantastic runs and we were so proud of all of our runners. Thank you to the Sixth Form team of Leora, Angie, Samson and Cyrus, who helped with the stewarding of the event. Results include:

Gen P = 3rd in Junior Girls
Kenny G = 2nd in Senior Boys

1st Year boys = 2nd in Team Event

Thank you to all the staff involved in organising the event – Mrs Wood, Mrs Morgan and Mr Casey.

Well done to Annie in the 1st Year who competed in the Cornwall County and Age Group Championships over the weekend. Annie swam in the 800m event and achieved a time of 13:04, a fantastic swim! We wish her the best of luck for the remainder of the Championships.

The U16 boys’ hockey team enjoyed hosting Penryn College and Penair as part of the boys’ preparation for the regional finals.

Well done all of you!
