A Historic Milestone for Girls’ Football
The U15 girls’ football team made history by becoming the first Truro School girls’ football team to reach the quarter-finals of a National Cup. In an impressive display, they triumphed 5-2 over KES Witley in the ISFA National Shield, with Fenella E scoring four goals and, player of the match, Ayesha P, was instrumental in creating attacking opportunities. The team now awaits news of their quarter-final opponents and hope for a Home draw. Football Coach Mr Sullivan praised their performance, adding, “It’s a first for girls’ football at Truro and the players have the chance to replicate this achievement in the ESFA Cup when they play Leaf Studio in the new year.” Huge congratulations to the players and coaches.
The U13 girls have also progressed to the next round of their ISFA national cup – well done!
National Celebrations for Boys’ Football
The U16 boys’ football team also celebrated victory in the national ESFA Cup, advancing to the last 16 in the competition. A great achievement, well done to all involved and we wish them the best of luck as they move on in the competition. They also continued their unbeaten streak with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Penryn in the county cup 2nd round. After dominating possession, goals from Noah B and Jayden secured the win in extra time.
The U14 boys have also progressed to the last 16 in the national ESFA Cups and will play their next round in January. Well done!

Rugby Development and Achievement
The U16 rugby team concluded their season with a strong performance against Exeter School. The team has shown tremendous growth, overcoming challenges posed by limited early exposure to the sport due to Covid. Their teamwork and progress have been exceptional, and we are immensely proud of you all and what you have achieved together – well done!
A huge well done to the U18 boys’ rugby team, who won all 4 fixtures in the 10’s tournament.
Also, good luck to the U14s in their National Cup fixture at Ivy Ridge. Thank you to all the players and staff who have participated in Rugby this year, both in fixtures and on Wednesday afternoons.
Congratulations to Lulu K for being selected to represent the Cornwall U16 girls’ rugby team, recently playing Gloucester. Well done Lulu!
The 2nd Year rugby team had a great day at the annual Mount Kelly 10’s. Developing and improving throughout the day, seeing some fantastic performances and incredible tries being scored and saving the best team performance until last, beating Queens College 3-0 to finish 5th overall. Well done to everyone involved.
Hockey Champions
Having been crowned county champions earlier this term the U14 and U16 hockey teams have been competing at regional finals. They played some fantastic matches against strong hockey schools in challenging weather conditions. A huge congratulations for getting to the regionals – Miss Cobner, Mrs Wyatt and Mr Opie, and everyone at School are, really proud of your performances.
Furthermore, we are very proud of the mixed U16 hockey team, who competed in their county tournament. In pouring rain and cold conditions, they played really well and maintained a positive attitude throughout. With two wins, a draw and a defeat, they played some excellent hockey. Well done team!
Girls vs Boys Netball
As part of their Cambridge Technicals course, some of our Sixth Form students had to organise a sports event at school – choosing to hold a fixture comprising the Lower Sixth girls vs Lower Sixth boys. A tight and enthralling fixture finished 6-6, sending the match to a shootout, with the girls coming out victorious!
Well done to the students who demonstrated excellent leadership in arranging the fixture and the watching crowd for the fantastic support of both teams. Thank you to Mrs Newton and Miss Bickley for umpiring the match.
House Match Highlights
End of term House Matches are always a fun and lively way to bring the terms to a close and they have been in full swing during Games lessons, with the girls taking to the hockey astro for their competition and the football fields for the boys.
The house matches celebrate the hard work of all pupils this term and the PE department thanks the year group for their brilliant effort and engagement levels.
Congratulations to all players, staff, and coaches for an incredible term of sport. Good luck to everyone competing in National Cup fixtures in January!
