Upper Sixth student Emily has sent out a gift request for her Christmas appeal. She is asking for any brand new CE safety-marked gifts suitable for a child up to 16 years old, which she can distribute to families in need this Christmas.
Emily and her mum started this project in 3rd Year as part of her DofE volunteering. Since then, she has been requesting new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children of any age to be dropped at the School office. Emily wraps the gifts and takes them to the local homeless shelter where parents can give them to their children at Christmas.
They usually distribute around 100 gifts to the shelter each Year from Truro School donations, and this year expects the beneficiaries to need them more than ever. She explains that post-covid homeless shelters are full. With enormous pressures on family finances, all gift donations will make a real difference to the children of families in homeless shelters at Christmas time.
Gift donations can be dropped off at the Senior School reception any time between now and the end of term; the final collection is on Friday, December 15th 5 pm.
Sadly, this is Emily’s last year, and she is looking for her successor. If you are interested in continuing Emily’s great work in supporting Truro’s homeless shelter, please contact Emily directly or via Mrs Duke.
