This week in our chapel assembly, our Prep pupils stepped into the story of how the disciples met Jesus as they sat around the table at the Last Supper. The Last Supper is a pivotal event in Christian tradition, commemorating the final meal Jesus shared with his apostles before his crucifixion. It falls within the context of Holy Week, culminating in Easter.
With our Year 6 helpers in place, the story began with a reminder of the Passover Festival and why that was significant for Jesus and his friends. Pupils were then introduced to each of the 12 disciples, before a re-telling of the story of what happened in the Upper Room on the last night Jesus ate with his friends.
Our helpers then passed round pieces of bread and grapes to allow the wider community to share in the story and reflect on the symbolism of what happened at the Last Supper. Thanks to our Year 6 helpers and Rev Helen for bringing the story to life.
