It was a pleasure to host Andrew Hampton, author of Girls on Board and Working with Boys, for a special training event aimed at empowering staff from both Truro School Senior and Prep alongside other local schools. The session introduced attendees to the principles of Hampton’s innovative approach, designed to help girls resolve friendship issues independently. This is one part of a wider PSHEE curriculum that also draws on intervention from the Working With Boys programme that enables to support all pupils in our community and care.
Staff had the opportunity to become certified Girls on Board Champions, gaining insight into how the program supports girls aged 7 to 18 in navigating complex social dynamics. Selected Pupils from Truro School participated in the training, offering invaluable contributions throughout the sessions which builds on the rolling out of the programme into the wider year groups.
Girls on Board has already been adopted by over 1,000 schools worldwide, supporting tens of thousands of girls in their friendships. The award-winning approach has garnered media attention, including features on BBC Radio Five Live and in the TES.
