As part of their humanities work on Judaism, Year 6 pupils have been studying Jewish festivals, and recently learnt about Sukkot, a festival of thanksgiving and commemoration held after Yom Kippur.
During Sukkot, Jewish people build temporary three-sided shelters called ‘sukkahs’ as places to eat, sleep and celebrate. The roofs of sukkahs are deliberately left partly open to the stars.
Pupils from 6AG were given the optional homework of constructing their own mini-sukkahs, and many took to it with great enthusiasm, creating a variety of amazing sukkahs with Lego and recycled materials. If you look carefully, you’ll see a broad mix of characters enjoying their time in the sukkahs!
