Pupils from our 3rd Year to Upper Sixth have been swimming the length of the English Channel today in a pupil-led initiative to raise money for communities in Peru.
We found Noah, Ben, Luke, Roddy, Ella, Charlie and Buzz just 70 lengths away from completing the 33,000-meter swim in the Sir Ben Ainslie swimming pool at Truro School. Each will be expected to swim an impressive 240 lengths to complete the challenge in one day.
Twenty-six pupils will be heading out to Peru in July 2025 as part of their Outdoor Pursuits education. The money raised in their sponsored swim will help the Ruhka community in the Andean region of Peru. The funds will be used to adapt a village for tourism in the small Peruvian community, with our pupils and students assisting in the construction during their trip.
This phenomenal group has already raised £780 towards this amazing cause, with plans in place for a sponsored cycle ride from Launceston to Land’s End to raise more capital.
