Truro School is taking another step towards a more sustainable future with the installation of cutting-edge photovoltaic (PV) panels on the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre (SBA) roof and the Fencing Centre. This exciting development reinforces the school’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while embracing innovative, eco-friendly technologies.
The installation project, which is set to be completed by the end of December, will feature 528 PV panels on the SBA and an additional 86 panels on the Fencing Centre roof. Together, they will generate an impressive 275 kWp of energy, marking a significant stride in improving financial efficiency and advancing the school’s journey to net zero. To ensure safety during the installation process, scaffolding and edge protection will be in place. Whilst we aim to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the installation process, we are very grateful for your understanding and support.
Following a competitive tender process, ZLC energy, a highly qualified and experienced company, was awarded the contract for this project. The decision was based on their outstanding performance in delivering quality, value for money, and expertise in renewable energy solutions.

Additionally, the forthcoming state-of-the-art music school, designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent standards, will incorporate net-zero technology, including PV panels and heat pumps, to minimise its environmental impact.
These latest projects build on a range of innovative staff and pupil-led initiatives and campus-wide changes. To read more about our sustainable actions and learning, please visit > https://www.truroschool.com/category/sustainability/
