Congratulations to all the Year 5 and Year 6 girls who competed in the County hockey tournament at Penzance last Friday.
We took two teams, mainly consisting of children who are regular attendees at our Friday after-school club.
The tournament provided plenty of opportunities for match play, with seven teams attending from the following schools: St. Ives, Truro High, Devoran, Truro Prep and St. Hilary.
This meant that our teams both played six matches of fifteen minutes during the day, including the ‘Big Crunch’ game against each other.
Well done to all our goalkeepers – Gracie, Honey, Lahni and Hetty – for their effort and commitment during these matches. You were responsible for saving and clearing plenty of shots during the tournament.
Players of the tournament were Maya J and Amelia S (both still in Year 5) for their pace, movement, game awareness and coachability at this event.
Well done to both teams for their final placings of 3rd and 5th in the County. Good luck to the teams from St. Hilary and Truro High, who have successfully qualified to represent Cornwall in the regional round later this month.
Navy squad: Sarah B, Gracie F, Maya J, India T, Honey E, Amelia Si, Winnie W
