Yesterday, the Lower Sixth attended the UCAS Discovery Event at Westpoint Arena in Exeter. The event featured over 100 university stands, allowing students to engage in one-on-one discussions with representatives from various universities. Additionally, seminars and interactive “course tryers” sessions were available, offering insights on university applications and showcasing a diverse range of undergraduate courses, including opportunities in Armed Forces, game design, traditional programs, apprenticeships, and degree apprenticeships.
This event is a key component of the post-18 pathway support program, which becomes more intensive in the spring term and culminates in post-18 options days in June. To assist students in their research and application processes, they participate in fortnightly diploma sessions focused on their applications, understanding student finance, transitioning to independent living, securing student accommodation, and other relevant topics.
