As we race towards the end of term, our pupils have been continuing to work hard at Truro School Pre-Prep.
In Nursery, our children have been exploring the habitats of dinosaurs as a part of their topic on giant animals. The children used mud, sticks and stones collected from our fabulous outside areas to re-create these habitats.
After watching videos from Mrs Stableforth’s wildlife camera, the pupils went on a track hunt in the woods. Together, they showed great confidence and courage as they searched for different tracks that might have been left by animals before making their own tracks with welly boots. They even managed to fit in two swimming sessions on Monday and Friday in the Truro School Prep pool.
Reception has been busy this week creating cards and messages for a very special person ahead of this weekend. In Spanish, they have been learning a fun song about all of the animals we might find under the sea. In Maths, pupils have been working hard on their subtraction, using a homemade ‘maths machine’ to help them to add and subtract.
In science this week, our Year 1 pupils examined a cow and a fox’s skull to see what type of teeth they have. Pupils thought about how carnivores and herbivores have different sizes and shapes of teeth and why this was important. In maths, classes have been exploring weight and mass using scales to calculate the weight of everyday items.
In literacy, our Year 2s have been writing innovated versions of the traditional tale ‘Baba Yaga.’ In science, pupils added lettuce to their vegetable beds. The highlight of the week was Monday’s exciting cross country fixture; what a courageous, confident and compassionate group they all are!
