The Pre-Prep has been buzzing with hard work and joy this week as we look forward to Christmas. Alongside practice for Christmas performances, our pupils have been busy in the classroom and showing some fantastic learning.
This week in Nursery we have been practising our pouring skills, learning all about the number 5 and practising our snowflake dance for the Christmas production. In Forest School, we talked about animals that dig and looked for clues about a badger that might have been digging in our Enchanted Garden.
Our Reception pupils have been learning to read our Common Exception Words (Red Words) – we are up to 13 now! The children also faced a challenge: how to release dinosaurs from frozen blocks of ice. The children had to use their metacognitive thinking to work out how to free them. In Numeracy, our Reception classes have been working really hard practising writing their numbers. They have used some rhymes to help to get them right!
This week in science, our Year 1 children moved to our Human Body topic. Pupils started by drawing around their friends and labelling the different parts of the body.
During our PSHE programme, Jigsaw, we’ve been talking about how we are different and how we are the same as our friends.
In Literacy, Year 2 has been looking at how we can edit, amend and add to our work to make it even more exciting. In Maths pupils have been using key vocabulary to identify and describe 3D shapes.
