Weekly News from Pre-Prep 31.01.25

With wild weather to contend with and the Lunar New Year to celebrate, it has been another busy week in Truro School Pre-Prep.

In Nursery, our children have started artwork for the display in the Pre-Prep hall. They are using different mediums including watercolours, oil pastels, paint, felt tips and water to make unique pieces. Continuing their topic of farming, the children worked together to create houses for their favourite farm animals and compared photographs of farming in the past to farming today.

Reception children were delighted to have found some dinosaur footprints in the Enchanted Garden. Using the knowledge they gathered during last week’s visit to the Senior School Geology Department, the children reasoned that they might have been made by a T-Rex or an Allosaurus. In maths, pupils have been learning about measuring and we spent time outside measuring dinosaurs on the playground.

This week in literacy, our Year 1 pupils have started learning the story of The Jungle Book in preparation for writing a new version of the story. In science, they have been learning about how animals have adapted to their environments.

This week in literacy, Year 2 has been experimenting with vocabulary to write descriptions of different weird and whacky aliens. In PE this week we have been having a ‘super’ time creating a Spiderman-themed dance routine!
