Whole School Assembly

In today’s whole school assembly, our Head Prefect team shared numerous individual achievements in academics, sports, and personal success from across the school.

Mr. Johnson then spoke about two significant historical figures; Walter Tull, a soldier in World War I, and Joseph Emidy, a composer and founder of the Truro Philharmonic Orchestra. He then posed a thought provoking question: when we think of these individuals, do we envisage them with white skin or black?

As we begin Black History Month, and in light of Floyd Steadman’s inspiring talk last week we will continue to explore the topic of unconscious bias. During form time, pupils are working on exercises designed to raise awareness of their own unconscious bias and identify steps we can all take to increase our awareness of this.

Congratulations to all our Values Award Winners from across the school, as well as to everyone who has made a significant contribution to our school community this week.
