Year 5 Ballerion Beach Clean

Our incredible Year 5 pupils headed to Perran Sands Beach for a mammoth beach clean as a part of their Ballerion Award.

The Award, which has been developed by Truro School Prep and implemented for Year 5 pupils this year, is an environmentally focussed programme that empowers pupils to look after wild spaces and appreciate our local environment and heritage.

Being based in Cornwall is such a privilege, but our Year 5 pupils demonstrated today that they understand the importance of caring for our beautiful natural surroundings. They worked hard to clear an impressive amount of rubbish, which included microplastics, discarded fishing line, and an old flip-flop. All of this would have ended up in or back in the ocean, to the detriment of marine life.

Well done to our eco warriors. It was a monumental team effort and your cheery demeanours and dedication to the task was impressive to see.
