Youth Speaks Area Final Winners

Congratulations to our Youth Speaks team, Tilda (Chairperson), Ellie (Main Speaker) and Hugo (Vote of Thanks) for their incredible teamwork and dedication, which has resulted in another winning performance at the Area Finals.

Their chosen topic was ‘The climate is changing – why aren’t we?’ and they spoke eloquently and with passion. Ellie and Hugo coped extremely well with the unknown question from the Rotary club, which asked them how they would convince politicians to act on climate change.

Other schools attending included King Charles (Falmouth), Gwinear (Redruth) and St. Just (Mounts Bay). Topics ranged from ‘Which Pole is the most deadly?’ to ‘Aliens – are they real?’ and ‘Are all villains just misunderstood?’

The standard of performances from all schools was very high, with the judges praising their dedication and teamwork, explaining that it had not been an easy decision, as the results were very close.

We wish our talented team the best of luck for the Cornwall and Devon finals this Saturday, 1st March, at Tavistock College. They are very proud to be representing Cornwall.
