Sarang Co-Authors Academic Paper on Healthcare Challenges

Congratulations to 4th Year pupil Sarang for his hard work in contributing to his first academic paper. This paper is the result of dedicated efforts in his spare time, supported by his family and the Mathematics and Physics departments at School. The opportunity arose through a connection with a colleague of his father, who is a Professor in Bio-medical Engineering at Warwick University. Sarang assisted with data collection and analysis for one of the professor’s projects, leading to his co-authorship offer for the paper.

Sarang’s key contributions included concept development, data acquisition, and analysis. Sarang’s father, Professor (Dr.) Shankar said, “We extend our gratitude to Truro School, especially the Mathematics and Physics departments, as well as to individuals who have played a significant role in nurturing Sarang’s confidence and skills to achieve this milestone.”

The paper focuses on the challenges faced in healthcare delivery in the United Kingdom, particularly in neurology and neuropsychiatry, where delays in diagnosis and treatment are impacting health and social outcomes. The paper is now fully published and is open access, with Sarang being offered co-authorship for his valuable input.

Dr Pope, (Deputy Head, Academic) said, “This is a remarkable achievement for Sarang, showcasing the power of curiosity, dedication, and collaboration. His involvement in such a significant academic project at such a young age is a testament to his intellectual curiosity. At Truro School, we are committed to nurturing our pupils’ passions across all areas, whether academic, sporting, artistic or otherwise. Sarang’s success is a prime example of how, with the right support and opportunities, our pupils can thrive in diverse areas. We look forward to seeing his continued growth in the world of academia and beyond.”
