Pop! Bang! Jump! Year 2 took a trip to the Senior School this morning to mark National Science Week, where they experimented making bright lights and loud noises.
With lab coats and safety goggles donned, the range of experiments began. Burning magnesium, creating solids, gas and hot and cold liquids, creating mystical ‘genie’ smoke, popping hydrogen, and saving the best until last, going out with a bang; putting fire to small and large hydrogen balloons, which definitely made a few jump…
A-Level chemistry students helped the children in their experimenting and were on hand to answer any questions the children were curious about.
It’s safe to say the children had an explosive time, and seeing for themselves how much fun science can be.
