Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

Season’s Greetings from Our Head Boy and Head Girl

As we approach the end of a busy and exciting Autumn term, Elowyn and Finlay, our Head Girl and Head Boy, have shared some reflections on their highlights from the past few months.

From Elowyn, our Head Girl:

“Over the Autumn term, many amazing events have taken place, one of them being the making of the Christingles at the Prep School, which I felt really brought together both ends of the school, united with the excitement of the Christmas season.

Also, from my point of view, I’ve truly appreciated the joy of the normal school day: seeing my friends and having all these wonderful, shared experiences – like concerts, shows, sports, or simply fun in class. This term, I believe, has been centred around a stronger community between all years as well as the willingness to be involved in school life.

I hope we continue to strengthen the sense of community over the Christmas holidays, and I wish you all a very restful and joyful break.”

From Finlay, our Head Boy:

“My personal highlights of the term were the Chicago Musical and playing 1st team rugby. The sense of community and camaraderie surrounding both the Chicago band and cast was second to none. Spending so much time in a cramped pit with amazing musicians and close friends solidified this in my memory as one of the best moments of my time at Truro School.

Similarly, the team spirit in the 1st team rugby was equally fulfilling. In all matches, but particularly away ones, there is a sense of team and collective determination. Despite not having much success as a team, playing was one of the main highlights this term and was what got me up on a Monday morning.”

Truro School’s boarding community embraced the festive spirit with a heart-warming Christmas chapel service, followed by an evening of feasting, games, and celebrations.

Christmas Jumper Day 2024

Christmas jumper day brought festive cheer to Truro School, with pupils and staff across the senior site proudly sporting their festive knitwear and getting into the Christmas spirit as the term draws to a close.

A Musical Celebration at the Christmas Concert

This year’s Christmas Concert was a festive triumph, celebrating the creativity, passion and talent of Truro School’s young musicians.

Pupils Sarah, Isobel and Ottilie have been showcasing their Christmas Carol, ‘A King Born Tonight’ to 1st years in assembly, after winning a carol writing competition led by Rev Helen.

‘Create a Crib Competition’ Sparks Creativity

Pupils have been taking part in an initiative by Rev Helen to 'Create a Crib' in any artistic discipline.

Sixth Form Festive Maths Challenge

Our Lower and Upper Sixth Form students came together to showcase their mathematical prowess in a thrilling super-curricular maths challenge.

Junior Choir Spreads Christmas Cheer

Our fantastic Junior Choir spent the day spreading festive joy to our local community as they visited three care homes in the Truro area to sing Christmas carols with the residents.

Nine Lessons and Carols 2024

It was a wonderful evening at Truro Cathedral, where the beautiful voices of the Truro School chamber choir rang out the message of Christmas. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols opened with the first verse of 'Once in Royal David's City,' sung by head chorister Natalie, her voice resonating throughout the cathedral.

Innovative Cell Creations by 1st Year Pupils

1st Year pupils have spent much of this term looking in detail at their module on cells and microscopes. As part of this biology module, they were tasked with creating their own examples of plant and animal cells.

German Festive Bake-Off

The German department hosted an engaging Christmas biscuit-baking event for their 1st and 2nd Year pupils.

Sparkling Success in Chemistry

Lower Sixth chemistry students conducted the silver mirror test, also known as Tollens' test, to create silver test tube icicles.

Changing Places and Changing Coasts

Upper Sixth Geographers embarked on their final field trip, focusing on honing their primary data collection skills in preparation for Paper 1 - Changing Places and Changing Coasts.

A Plate Full of Festive Cheer

The Dining Halls at Truro School and Truro School Prep were full of festive cheer as our entire school community gathered to celebrate the coming of the Christmas holidays.

Message for 1st - 3rd Year Parents

1st – 3rd Year pupils have been sent the following message about next term’s Games lessons via Everest:

Girls will move to rugby and will need boots, games socks and mouthguards.

Boys will be split into two groups, half the group will be on netball and the other starting on hockey. Please can ALL boys bring hockey kit for preparation in the first week. Please remember to bring base / mid-layers to your lessons.
